—Mental Health America joins Americans in mourning the loss of those killed in Saturday’s tragic and senseless attack and expressing our wishes for the full recovery of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and fellow citizens who were injured. Tucson Shooting Sparks Gun Laws And Mental Health Debate

Multiple run-ins with the law, a failed Army drug test and a ban from returning to his college campus didn't stop Jared Lee Loughner from passing a background check and buying a Glock automatic pistol.
Authorities say Loughner used that same semiautomatic on Saturday in a Tucson shooting spree that killed six and injured 14, including Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
