Celebrating Hope & Heroes in our communities :

Now Accepting Nominations for 2012!

In 2006, The Hope & Heroes Awards were created from an alliance with Mercy Hospital Clermont Department of Behavioral Medicine, the Clermont Counseling Center and the Mental Health Association of SW Ohio to help fight the stigma of mental illness and to recognize those individuals in our community who have made meaningful contributions to individuals challenged by mental illness.  The Partnership for Mental Health, Inc. grew from this original alliance and spans the southwest Ohio and northern KY region.

An independent committee of mental health leaders selects honorees from nominations received in the following categories:

The Hope Awards:
For Persons in Recovery from Mental Illness
(one winner in each category):

Hope in Recovery Award: Any individual whose determination has helped him or her overcome mental illness and resume a fulfilling life is eligible.  The Hope in Recovery honoree serves as an inspiration to individuals in recovery and health care professionals alike, offering hope that mental illness is treatable and obstacles to recovery can be overcome.

Patty Duke Advocacy Award: Advocacy means taking direct action to make positive changes in the systems, services, or conditions that have a negative impact. Advocacy happens when an individual or a group takes a stand and speaks up to make a difference in the world.   Any individual whose noteworthy public efforts have helped promote the understanding of mental illness, reduce the shame and guilt associated with the illness, reduce barriers to treatment, and build public support around the idea of recovery is eligible.

Making a Difference Peer Support Award Peer support is helping others by sharing your knowledge and experiences, by providing a shoulder to cry on, and by being a good friend and listener. Being there for one another is what peer support is all about.  Anyone who fosters supportive, caring environment for those suffering from mental illness and serves as a resource for individuals working for recovery is eligible.
