What We Do:

The mission of the Partnership for Mental Health is to promote mental health through community education, collaboration, and advocacy.

Our vision is to be a leader in empowering communities to value and support the mental health of all individuals.

Programs and Major Achievements:
Since its inception, The Partnership for Mental Health, Inc has worked to progress its mission through:
  • Creating a unique publicity campaign in support of the 2006 Clermont County Mental Health Levy
  • Presentating seminars for health professionals and community members including “Promoting Health, Hope & Healing After Suicide”, “Recent Advances in the Treatment of Severe Mental Disorders”, “The Creative Brain”, “Recognizing the Power of Stories to Transform Lives” and “Surviving the Stresses of the Recession: Helping Others Through Tough Times”
  • Presenting a documentary and panel discussion for the community on understanding schizophrenia
  • Hosting the 3rd annual The Hope & Heroes Awards which were created to help fight the stigma of mental illness and to recognize individuals in our community who have made meaningful contributions to individuals challenged by mental illness. The Celebration of Hope & Heroes is now an annual event. In the past 2 years, 25 individuals have been honored from the Greater Cincinnati region.
  • Creating the Campus Suicide Prevention Collaborative, a group of representatives from 8 Greater Cincinnati and NKY institutions of higher education plus representatives from four area mental health organizations/agencies working together to increase awareness of the problem of suicide among college students and decrease the stigma associated with mental illness.
  • Presenting the first annual “Working Well” monthly seminar series in fall 2008 for area corporations on critical issues of mental health in the workplace. “Mental Wellness in the Workplace”, “Stress in the Workplace: Creating Resiliency”, “Difficult Conversations: Communication Tools and When You Need Them”, and “Real Problems, Real Solutions”.
  • Facilitating regional meeting of county Suicide Prevention Coalitions from Hamilton County, Warren County, Clermont County, and Kenton County to review initiatives to determine areas for potential coordination of efforts.
  • Providing consultation in organizing the Youth & Young Adult Suicide Symposium at the Northern KY Convention Center in Sept. 2008. Presented on “Reducing Stigma” as part of panel presentation.
  • Helping organize Active Minds On Campus chapters on 6 local campuses. Active Minds is the only organization working to utilize the student voice to change the conversation about mental health on college campuses. By developing and supporting chapters of a student-run mental health awareness, education, and advocacy group on campuses, the organization works to increase students’ awareness of mental health issues, provide information and resources regarding mental health and mental illness, encourage students to seek help as soon as it is needed, and serve as liaison between students and the mental health community. Obtained in-kind donation of ice cream to serve over 300 students at UC-Clermont College’s Active Minds “Chill Out” during finals week and coordinated collaboration with area agencies such as NAMI and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Cincinnati Chapter to provide educational information at the event.
  • Currently working to establish collaboration with local veterans and military members services to address mental health and suicide prevention needs of returning service members to our communities.

The Partnership offers the following special interest committees through which members and community representatives engage:
    • Media
    • Education
    • Events
    • Suicide Prevention
    • Development
